  This is Dori's Freeman's gospel EP. Performed by The Blue Hens, the duo she formed with her husband Nicholas Falk.
  
  The Blue Hens are a duo from Galax, Virginia comprised of husband and wife Nicholas Falk and Dori Freeman. The pair play Country and Appalachian music, pulling from classic and original catalogues. Their style and setup is sparse - Nick plays drums and banjo and Dori plays guitar. Both sing. Their music emphasizes percussion and harmony singing.
  
  Nicholas Falk is originally from Maine and started playing the drums at the age of ten. He studied performance and composition at Berklee College of Music and the Thelonious Monk Institute finishing with a Master's Degree in 2011. That same year he moved to New York City and toured professionally with several configurations. In the last five years he has toured 18 countries with the State Department and played with a sundry of acts including Herbie Hancock and The Wood Brothers.
  
  Dori Freeman is from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and grew up in a family of musicians and artists. Her focus has always been on singing and she learned to play guitar to accompany herself at fifteen. Over the last ten years she has performed locally and regionally, releasing her first major record on Free Dirt Records in 2016 with producer Teddy Thompson. Over the last year she has garnered national recognition from esteemed outlets such as NPR, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times.
  
  The Blue Hens play music from the Traditional and Country repertoires, including songs of The Louvin Brothers, Townes Van Zandt, The Carter Family, Doc Watson, Merle Haggard, etc. They also play original material inspired by roots music. ... more
